Hello. I’m feeling a touch blue today. Nothing really bad or horrible, just blah. Not entirely sure if it’s from adrenalin fatigue or if it’s just the weather messing me round. Either way, need some cheering up. So tell me your good and happy news.

Hello. Lately I’ve been hearing horror stories from mums about their maternal and child health centre visits. Mostly in the aggressive and contradictory advice given out in the sessions. From apparent overfeeding to sleep “suggestions” which have made the mums feel guilty for doing the best they can. I was lucky. I had two amazing [...]

Hello Since Little Miss is a bit older (5 years old), Hubby and I have managed to have unbroken nights sleep. Mostly. That was until last night at 4am precisely, Little Miss was crying. This of course tripped off the primitive part of my brain which then started poking around until I woke. I stumble [...]

Hello Feeling the end of year blahs today and something caught my memory from a while back. Here’s today’s rhyme. Sometimes Christmas isn’t fun When you’re missing a loved one Your arms feel cold and empty Even when surrounded by twenty You smile and nod and float along But your heart is not in song [...]

Hello. Well yesterday’s plans went awry and not for the reasons I thought they would. Instead Curly Sue was discharged from hospital and went home. Little Miss was most upset she didn’t see her friend or get a train ride. I did try to explain that it’s a good thing Curly Sue went home but [...]

Hello. This morning, Little Miss had the first of her school transition days. This marks the beginning of my baby girl not being a baby anymore. We arrived at the school and Little Miss dragged Hubby along to the office. She then dragged him to the library. She then introduced herself to the school nurse [...]

Hello As a childless woman, I used to take my daily shower for granted. It was just another thing I had to do in the morning before rushing off to work. When I had my daughter, that changed. Suddenly the shower was so much more than a place to get clean. Now the shower is [...]

Hello again. I’m sitting here crying. Don’t panic, I’m fine. Nothing bad has happened, just tired and emotional. I’ve had a week of highs and lows, stress and relief, good and bad news and I think it’s just met breaking point. That combined with Little Miss pushing boundaries, I’ve become worn at the seems. Today’s question: What [...]

Hello again. I’ve been having a bit of a run of breaking things. It started with my car’s catalytic converter failing, then on Friday night my eftpos machine’s software failed. Come Saturday I was starting to get a bit nervous with my anti-midas touch. All was well until I touched the oven door last night [...]

Hello again There are many so called concerns with mums who are above average size. One of the biggest is clothing to fit but the medical community will also have you believe that you are a bad mum before the baby is even born. (Cue perinatal depression.) Add to this the referral to a larger [...]
