Memories

Some days are good, some are not so

By The Mummyseuss on May 9, 2013

Hello. I’m feeling a touch blue today.  Nothing really bad or horrible, just blah.  Not entirely sure if it’s from adrenalin fatigue or if it’s just the weather messing me round.  Either way, need some cheering up. So tell me your good and happy news.

Health Nurse Horrors

By The Mummyseuss on April 30, 2013

Hello. Lately I’ve been hearing horror stories from mums about their maternal and child health centre visits. Mostly in the aggressive and contradictory advice given out in the sessions. From apparent overfeeding to sleep “suggestions” which have made the mums feel guilty for doing the best they can. I was lucky. I had two amazing [...]

By The Mummyseuss on April 18, 2013

Travels

By The Mummyseuss on April 11, 2013

Hello. I’ve been away visiting my family in the country.  This involved taking a trip on a train and a bus.  Not just a short one, but a LONG one. It started Sunday morning leaving the suburban station that also caters for the country services, at an hour that I usually only see the insides [...]

Can I go back to bed now?

By The Mummyseuss on April 2, 2013

Hello Since Little Miss is a bit older (5 years old), Hubby and I have managed to have unbroken nights sleep.  Mostly.  That was until last night at 4am precisely, Little Miss was crying.  This of course tripped off the primitive part of my brain which then started poking around until I woke.  I stumble [...]

Henna

Volunteer required

By The Mummyseuss on March 27, 2013

Hello I think I mentioned a little while ago, I learnt how to henna at a workshop.  Heaps of fun and as a result I’ve been practising on myself, paper and random people I could get to sit still long enough.  But the time has come.  I need to try a pregnant belly.  Something beautiful [...]

My memory and other lost things

By The Mummyseuss on February 4, 2013

Hello. It’s well ingrained in folklore about pregnancy causing mummy brain.  The special kind of forgetfulness that makes the smartest woman become vague. If you think about this memory modification in a biological/anthropological sense, it’s so the mother’s forget the pain of labour and therefore continue to get pregnant.  Sadly, the forgetting of pain process [...]

So sweet to meet

By The Mummyseuss on January 27, 2013

Hello. About half my clients ask for a home visit.  This has mostly to do with being a post natal client not wanting to be too far from their babies or having had a C-section and unable to drive just yet.  Or a mix of both.  Sometimes it’s that they just want me to come visit (which [...]

Bleurgh

By The Mummyseuss on January 10, 2013

Hello My family will no doubt laugh at what I’m writing about given our history but still. Many friends I know view lucozade with suspicion.  In fact for some just the sight makes them feel nauseas.  This is because for many years, vomiting and diarrhoea in children was treated with lucozade.  Not me though.  In [...]

On the seventh day…

By The Mummyseuss on December 7, 2012

Hello. I can’t remember if I’ve told you or not, but I used to be a music teacher.  I used to sit with littlies whilst they clamboured through Mary had a dog (if you’ve heard it as many time and ways as I have you’d understand) and try to teach them about keeping rhythm and [...]

    To escape the daily riot.
I lock myself inside the loo
But that doesn’t stop the zoo
In they come with all their noise
Plus they bring in all their toys.
And when I try to have a shower
    Someone gets into the flour
Next thing I know there in there too
And having a great big blue
It’s too hot now it’s too cold
The soaps smells funny, so I’m told
When did I last shave my legs
Instead of reading about green eggs
And when I stumble into bed
    I find myself seeing red
They’ve found their way into there
Taking up all the room to spare
Then I come up with a thought
The Mummyseuss is just the sort
She will calm the nerves and soul
And help me gain back my control
She has a space that’s just for me
    And she’s a massage devotee
I will call her really quick
Or email her with a click
She fix me up and make me happy
Now’s your turn, make it snappy!
  • Your partner’s pregnant, Whoopee Doo!
But now she’s feeling pretty blue,
One minute she’s smiles, very happy,
    Next she’s crying, feeling crappy,
Don’t know how to fix this slump?
In case she then becomes a grump
Wow! An idea starts to form
    Something fuzzy, something warm.
A mummy massage is the answer
A little treat, a bit of pamper
